3: Pronouns
IN THIS LESSON
What is a relative pronoun in Oscan?
Could you imagine if every sentence was simple? If we were limited to one verb and one subject in each sentence? How boring!
Luckily, relative pronouns come to the rescue. Relative pronouns allow us to create complex subordinate clauses in sentences. They’re translated as who or which and give us a larger ability to express the qualities of something. As with other third-person pronouns in Oscan, they’re split by their gender.
It’s unique to note that while Oscan relative pronuns start with ‘p’, Latin relative pronounss start with ‘q.’ In fact, the ‘p’ in Latin is related to the letters ‘qu’ at the beginning of many Latin words.
Note, red means masculine, blue means feminine, and green means neuter.
