Comparative and Superlative Adjectives

Oscan’s Comparative is only found in a few adverbial forms. Usually the ending is -is, equivalent to the Latin -ior or -ius. The suffixes -ero- and -tero- are both used in adjectives in time and place. Oscan’s Superlative has nearly always been found in adjective of time or place. The suffixes -mo-, -emo-, and -temo- can be found.

Ualaemon, equivalent to Latin optimum, the best, differs in meaning in formation. Maimas, equivalent to Latin maximae, the greatest, also varies in form. It is declined with the suffix -is-tero- which is further shortened. Maimas itself is from maisemo from magismmo.
